Jim is the co-inventor of Foldscope, and has spent the last 5 years developing and field testing Foldscopes all over the world as a PhD student in PrakashLab at Stanford. As President and CEO of Foldscope Instruments, he leads our efforts to provide access to scientific tools across the globe.
Manu is the co-inventor of Foldscope and co-founder of Foldscope Instruments. He is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at Stanford University and runs a curiosity-driven lab, where Foldscope was first invented and developed/deployed during phase 1 of the project. Manu has led the design of the Foldscope and is its most prolific beta tester.
Honomi is the Director of Community Engagement at Foldscope Instruments. She is a certified microscopist (trained at Merritt College) and has a BS in Environmental Science from Mills College. She has spent the last 5 years studying creeks in Oakland, CA from the perspectives of geochemistry and sustainable city planning. Honomi grew up in Japan learning origami from her mother and grandmother.
Rebecca produces visual content for Foldscope Instruments, emphasizing in illustration and graphic design. She has a BFA in Biomedical Art and seeks to create inspiring, meaningful visuals that capture the many wonders to be seen in the natural world.
Christine assists Foldscope Instruments with administration, operations, and accounting. She has decades of experience in IT and web development.
Alice's favorite Foldscoping adventures include finding a butterfly wing on her family's rental car in Japan and taking her Foldscope to the beach to look at tiny ocean organisms. She is a sophomore at Duke studying electrical engineering and English.
Max was formerly the Director of Community Engagement at Foldscope Instruments. He has a BA in Molecular Biology and English and has worked as research technician (at UCSF) and as a science communicator. He is currently pursuing a PhD at UC Berkeley.
